What is the Trillium Drug Program?
Trillium is a government program that anyone in Ontario with a valid health card can apply for. It offers financial assistance to help manage high medication costs, including PrEP.
There is no cost to apply and register.
Who is eligible?
Anyone in Ontario can apply, as long as you have a valid health card, have not already qualified for the Ontario Drug Benefit Program, and do no have insurance that pays for 100% of your medications.
How it works:
After completing an enrollment form, the Ontario government sets a threshold for how much of your medication costs you are expected to cover. Once this amount is reached, they step in to help with the remainder. This amount is known as a “deductible” and it’s broken up into every three months of the year.
For example:
A person has an annual deductible of $500. So every 3 months when someone has spent $125 on their medication the government will help with any amounts over this. (For any oral tablets covered under the Trillium Program).

Tax Filing Program
To keep Trillium active, tax filing needs to be up to date with the government. To help with this barrier we cover the full expense of a general annual tax filling for our patients who may be facing financial barriers.
This is through one of our community accounting partners. We are the only PrEP service that offer this in Ontario.
What to do if your income has reduced since filing your taxes:
The Trillium deductible is based on your most recent tax year filing. However, if you have had a reduction in income of more than 10% (including complete loss of income) Trillium does offer a deductible reassessment. You can apply for this through the online reassessment form.

Don't qualify
for Trillium?
If you do not qualify for Trillium, you still have options for coverage! Many people automatically have PrEP covered through public programs or private insurance.
